From Wholesale to Full Experience: Translating a Brand’s Essence into a Physical Space.
Steven Smith Teamaker, an emblem of Portland’s rich craft culture, had previously delivered its value in Japan primarily through wholesale channels. However, to truly immerse the market in its deep craftsmanship and creative worldview—and to achieve sustainable growth—the brand needed a place where customers could directly encounter its core philosophy.
As a strategic partner looking toward future flagship openings, we first supported the execution of a series of POP-UP STORES designed to communicate the brand’s energy directly to the audience. This was more than a mere retail event; we reconstructed the atmosphere of Portland and the brand’s sincere approach to ingredients, tailoring them to the nuances of the Japanese market. We collaborated with the client to design this first step, expanding customer touchpoints from isolated “”points”” into a cohesive “”plane.””
As a result, the brand has now evolved to operate multiple permanent locations. By integrating cafés with retail, they have created spaces where the “”full experience””—from the careful selection of tea leaves to the moment a single cup is served—is shared and celebrated.
