Materializing a Founder’s Vision: The Global Expansion of the "Blue Bottle Studio" Sensory Experience.
“Blue Bottle Studio” is an entirely new form of coffee experience conceived by James Freeman, the founder of Blue Bottle Coffee.
To realize this ambitious concept, we spearheaded its expansion across global cities, beginning with Kyoto and moving to Los Angeles, Seoul, and Hong Kong. We constructed a “”space”” that multifacetedley expresses the depth of coffee through a reservation-only course format—a stark departure from the traditional café style.
At the heart of this project was the design of an “”atmosphere”” that allows guests to become deeply immersed in every cup. Beyond the carefully selected coffee, we meticulously curated every sensory element—from the ambient music and lighting to the tactile texture of the vessels. We elevated the act of “”drinking coffee”” into a cultural ritual enjoyed through sound and atmosphere, embodying a new value proposition for the brand.
Our role was to integrate the founder’s personal vision into the diverse cultural backgrounds of each city while delivering a consistent, pinnacle brand experience. By designing the operational foundation for this execution, we presented coffee lovers around the world with a new way to enjoy coffee that transcends existing frameworks.
